Before I write about each day I'd just like to say how grateful I am for this church! This church has blessed me so much and has given me many opportunities to do good in this world and I KNOW that is can do the same for all of you! That we need to be like Jesus Christ in all that we do every day. Like the song goes... "Love one another as Jesus loves you. Try to show kindness in all that you do. Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought. For these are the things Jesus taught." I can promise you that if you live by this you will be blessed enormously and that you will have stronger relationships within your family and friends. that you will have a better relationship with your heavenly father and that you will be given many opportunities to serve others. God loves you all and so does Jesus Christ. The power of God can perform miracles. By doing something simple for someone everyday will brighten their day. I love you all and my invitation to you all is to do some type of service to someone this week and PLEASE email me back and let me know what you did and how you felt while doing it.
October 6, 2016: Another P-Day. We started our day at the temple again and had a great experience! We really love going to the temple! I love it myself! It's very spiritual and uplifting. After the temple visit we ate breakfast at the temple... again haha. When we got back to the MTC we got the mail and Elder Warner got 4 packages haha! It;s because today is his birthday! During class we had TRC on Skype! It's not like we get to sit with people in person. Elder Warner and I were expecting to teach a Filipino over Skype but it was some white guy from Ohio haha. In our lesson we read Mosiah 4 and it is a really good scripture! He enjoyed our lesson but we can do better. We will work on it.
October 7, 2016: Another average day at the MTC. I played knockout again for exercise time. During the first block of class we had Bro. Spencer and Bro. Blackham teach us. They helped a ton with learning the verb conjugations! There are so many verbs and each verb has to be with a certain conjugation in order to be used in a past, present, or future form. It's a lot to know! During the next block of class we had Sis. Aitken teach us. We were supposed to teach Josephine but since Elders Atkinson and Vance took an hour to teach her we couldn't teach haha. For the rest of class she took some time to interview us one-on-one to get to know us more and see where we are at. It was nice to talk to her about my family becasue I had told her that I have 3 adopted siblings and that made her happy becasue she said she was adopted too... but not like in the legal ways because she lived in the Philippines and she had this family in one of her wards who took her in because her home life was difficult. I enjoyed talking to her.
October 8, 2016: Another day to be grateful for! During companion study I momorized 'Our Purpose', which is the Missionary Purpose, in Tagalog! "Imbitahin ng iba na lumapit kay Cristo, sa pagtulong sa kanila na mantanggap ng ibinalik na ebanghelyo sa pamamagitan ng pananampalataya kay Jesucristo at kanyag sa pagbabayad-sala, pagsisisi, binyag, pagtanggap ng kaloob na Espiritu Santo, at pagtitiis hanggap wakas." It probably looks so weird to you all haha! It is to be memorized by Monday. Dusring class with Bro. Spencer he went over more verbs and conjugations and the way he teaches really helps a lot! For class with Sis. Aitken we taught Josephine about the Word of Wosdom. This was a helpful lesson because we found out that she LOVES coffee! haha. We are gonna have to change that haha. At the end of the day, after classes, Elder Russell and I decided to have a Zone meeting. We all met in the sacrament meeting soom so we could all fit. We decided to have a meeting becasue Pres. Delamare (Our branch president) told us about some problems with some people the zone staying up past 10:30 and some pranking people. Most, if not all, of the problems were coming from the the districts who've been here for 5 weeks. SO for the first 10mins we spoke with the whole zone about what it means to be a missionary and our purpose as a missionary. After that we dismissed the 1 week missionaries and the Sister missionaries. We then talked with the remaining Elders about obedience. We held nothing back and got in their faces a little bit becasue this needs to stop. So I just hope they took is seriously and took it to heart and will start to obey.
October 9, 2016: Today is fast Sunday! We had our weekly branch meeting at 7:00am. We just met about our districts and the zone. Dusting fast and testimony meeting people had some great testimonies! I got up and spoke about doing service and how as missionaries, we will be doing service every day! That is what is was inspired by the spirit today.:) After sacrament we had district meeting and we we taught by Elders Grahm, Kerr and Palmer. They taught us about baptism and confirmation. They did a great job! During Preisthood Session Elders Robertson and Gross taught and they taught about Enduring to the End. I enjoyed their lesson! Because it is fast Sunday we don't get lunch so we had a longer temple walk. I love the temple walks because they are so spiritual and peaceful! After the temple walk we went back to the clasroom to watch some mormon messages. We watched some great videos! I recommend that you all go watch some:). During this time Elder Russell and I met with all of the District Leaders. All of the District leaders are doing great and so are their districts! The devotional at the end of the day was given by President Richard Heaton. He is something like the Provo MTC Administrator. His talk was really good! After every devotional on Sundays we have to opportunity to watch old talks of videos. We chose to watch Elder Jeffrey R.Hollands talk, 'Missions Are Forever', and it is now one of my all time favorite talks! I recommend that you all take some time to watch it!
October 10, 2016: Another great Day! During out Personal, Companion, and Language study Elder Warner and I prepared an amazing lesson for Bing, our investigator. It's not even a specific lesson. The purpose of our lesson was to get to know him really well and figure out what is stopping him from getting baptised or fulfuilling out commitments.During the first hour of the first class block we read out of the Book of Mormon. For the 2nd hour Elder Warner and i got to teach Bing! the lesson went very well and the Spirit was strong within our lesson. At the end we asked him to get baptized and he said YES!!! We were so happy and so was he! He was a tough cookie haha. His baptism is set for a month from now. During the second class block we had a substitute teacher, Brother Cobb, because Sister Aitken was out sick. He did a great job at helping us translate sentences.
October 11, 2016: During exercise time we played one of the newer districts in kickball. We are challenging all the newer districts to kickball because when we leave we are going to pass down a minifridge that we found in out residence to them haha. So the 3 new districts are fighting for this fridge... in a nice way haha. We won the first game 11-7 but we are playing a competition of difference so the difference isn't that hard for the others to beat. Class was pretty normal today. We are mainly preparing to leave on Wednesday the 19th! Its so soon! For the Tuesday Devotional we had Elder David A. Bednar come in!!! He is amazing! He gave us tips and trick to rereading and understanding conference talks better. He has his wife with him as well. Thye are great examples. He replayed a couple of Conference talk clips and one of my favorites that he played was when someone said "Who sells eternity for a toy?". That is powerful and so important for us to understand in this world!
I hope you all enjoy this email and don't forget about what I said in the beginning and the commitment I gave you all! Email me and let me know how you are doing! I leave to go to the Philippines on the 19 to all letters and packages need to get here before that date! I love you all and so does your Heavenly father and Jesus Christ.
-Elder Scott
